Pam and Tom Korn recently donated $2 million to UT's College of Education, Health and Human Sciences to build the Korn Learning, Assessment and Social Skill Center, according to the UT Web site.

The center will be open to students who are struggling in school, from preschool all the way up to UT students.  UT faculty and doctoral students will staff the center, according to a UT press release.

“We wanted to help the university reach students who can easily fall through the cracks when they don't get the assistance they need," the Korns said in the press release. "We also hope the center will help future teachers and administrators become more aware of the needs of these students and of the best ways to help them.”

The center will also be available to UT faculty and students as a research center, allowing them to develop and evaluate services that build academic and social skills.

The gift will be counted as part of the Campaign for Tennessee, a multiphase fundraising effort that will extend through 2011.
