Do dreams really mean anything

I dreamt I was standing behind my car on a warm spring day. I felt content and happy, until, out of nowhere, I knew something was wrong.

Out of blue I seemed to have the knowledge that thousands of miles away, in Japan, my sister was in trouble.

I woke up soon after that and immediately sent her an urgent e-mail (the cheapest form of communication to Japan). Since I know you are all concerned, she was just fine.

This, and many other experiences like it, led me to believe that dreams have no more meaning than to sort out all the junk you think about on any given day.

When I break up with my boyfriend or get into an argument at work, dreams only serve as a simple organization of thought.

"The images you 'see' are the brain's version of the world," said researchers at Pfizer Inc ., a research-based pharmaceutical company. Your brain shows you images that it picked up through the day and interprets them with your own bias.

This may seem too logical to some who want to think of dreams as some spiritual sign, but that's what the experts say.
