This past weekend All Campus Events hosted the annual All Sing competition in the Alumni Memorial Building's Cox Auditorium. All the proceeds went to support All Campus Events.
The singing competition that began in 1932 is one part of a quartet of competitions that occur throughout the school year as part of the All Campus Events (ACE) Cup.
Student groups collect points for participating and winning All Sing, Homecoming, Volunteer Challenge, and Carnicus. At the end of the year the points are added up and a trophy is awarded.
This year's theme for the contest was "All Sing Like a RockStar." The performance included 15 student organizations that performed medleys from popular movies and shows such as "Chicago," "Mary Poppins," "Footloose" and "Dream Girls."
"All-Sing was a lot of hard work, but I had a blast," Delta Gamma Kate Kopperman said. "It requires quite a lot of preparation. We work several times a week on vocals and choreography but in the end it all comes together. The performance is exhilarating and well worth all the time and lost sleep."
The winner of the overall competition was the rendition of "Mary Poppins" by Alpha Delta Pi and Kappa Delta. Alpha Chi Omega and Delta Gamma's "Chicago" took second, followed by Alpha Omicron Pi and Phi Mu's "Footloose" came in third. Best vocal solo performance went to Ashley Cole of Alpha Delta Pi for her opening solo in "Mary Poppins."
