The Ready for the World café is giving UT students new options for dining on campus with its creative, international meal selection.
The café is operated by students in the advanced food production and service management class. They receive course credit for managing the restaurant, creating new recipes and advertising. The café is open to students, faculty, staff and the public.
Lunch is served every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 12-2 p.m. The café offers a choice of a $10 all-you-can-eat buffet or a one- plate special for $8.50.
Diners are asked to fill out evaluations after their lunch, which help decide the students’ grades. Students are also graded on the number of customers present each day at the café.
“Each well will have a different manager and a different menu,” student worker Maria Ramirez-Gaston said. The menu on Monday contained selections such as pasta from Italy and potatoes from France, among a variety of other items.
The Ready for the World café allows the students to take what they have learned in their other classes and apply them in a real-world setting.
