The Lady Vols pulled out a victory against the Lady Rutgers Monday night. This game is the biggest match of the season for both teams.
Helping the Lady Vols to victory was a player whose appearance was in doubt all week. Lady Vols forward Candice Parker suffered a bruised knee last week during the Mississippi State game. Coach Summitt said Parker would play on Sunday night and she did, scoring 27 points.
World Vision was hoping for the Lady Vols to score big for more than just improving their record. For each point made during the game, a donation of a basketball was be given to World Vision. The organization plans to put the basketballs toward their fundraiser --“Get Kids in the Game.” The fundraiser aims to collect basketballs for underprivileged children around the world.
Coach Summitt and Rudger Coach Stringer also volunteered their time to help World Vision the night before the Rutgers game. The duo signed autographs for an hour for those who made a donation to the charity.
