Don’t get the Valentine's Day blues

Valentine's Day plans are being made at the moment, and this is definitely a serious time. Why is it that the day love is supposed to be shown becomes the day so many hearts are broken? It really doesn't have to be so unpleasant. Don't let the Valentine's Day blues win out over Valentine's Day bliss.

Here are a couple of essential tips needed to make sure this year will be an enjoyable experience that ends in smiles for all parties involved.

First, don't expect too much from that special someone.

The two of you have spent six wonderful months together. He is loving and sensitive while, at the same time, showing his manliness. You are hoping he is the one. Valentine's Day is the day of love and you want that promise ring to confirm he is yours and will never hurt you.

There is no rule written that this day of love is set aside only for romantic love.Nine times out of 10 that is not going to happen. He doesn't want the pressure of having to buy a ring because it may lead to a misunderstanding of what the ring symbolizes.

Although he feels strongly about you, he gets you a single rose along with a framed love poem over a romantic dinner. This is one of the most thoughtful gifts ever. It's not a must that you get that expensive ring because he has shown you he cares with simple gestures.

Second, everyone who gives a gift will not get something in return.

You go out to get her a dozen red roses and a nice big Victoria's Secret gift basket. She is thrilled to get such an amazing gift. Especially since the two of you have only been on a few dates.

She gives you a comforting hug and a thank you, but nothing else. She really wasn't expecting you to get her anything because she didn't think things were serious yet. Don't be discouraged. Life is not over.

This does not mean she does not get those anxious knots in her stomach when she thinks of you. Her reaction could possibly be because you have not shown any signs of seriousness in this friendship and she assumed that's what you were: just friends.

Third, everyone should make the best out of the situation they are in this Valentine's Day.

Single life sometimes creates one of the best feelings. Especially when you witness all the drama lovers go through during a holiday such as Valentine's Day.

Because this is the day of love, you spend it with the people you love, not only a significant other. Valentine's Day can be spent with a best friend, a roommate, a sibling or even a grandparent.

There is no rule written that this day of love is set aside only for romantic love. You may have a better time being with someone you don't share romantic feelings with.

I enjoy the holiday reserved for every February 14. It is something I look forward to. Not because I can't wait to get a special gift or because I want to spend time with my loved ones.

It happens to be the one day I like to have "me time." I enjoy cuddling up in my bed with a good book or watching a great movie. Taking the time out to relax in deep thought is important to me. This is my way of showing love to me.

However you decide to spend that special day, make sure you remember it is about loving you. Loving someone else is mighty difficult if you don't love yourself first. Keep it pleasant. No blues for you.

What a great article. I wish I could have read this when I was single. I never thought about taking "me time" on this day. It's genius! Great job Princess.

I think that every single person should just call this number and listen to it on Valentie's Day. One of the funniest things I've heard in a long time!
