Gov. Mike Huckabee of Arkansas has officially won the Tennessee Republican primary, narrowly defeating Sen. John McCain.
With 34 percent of the vote, Huckabee fended off McCain who finished 32 percent in the state.
Mitt Romney finished third with 24 percent of the vote, and should receive a portion of the delegates.
Ron Paul was fourth with 6 percent but is not likely to receive any delegates from the Volunteer State.
Tennessee was the fifth state to go to Huckabee on Super Tuesday, helping to keep his run at the presidential nomination legitimate.
"Tonight, we're proving we're still on our feet," Huckabee said. "And much to the amazement of many -- we're getting there folks, we're getting there."
According to CNN exit polls, regular church attendees in Tennessee favored Huckabee by more than 25 percent over all other candidates; 44 percent of protestant church members also voted for Huckabee.
Nashville and Memphis voters favored Romney over Huckabee and McCain, while East Tennessee voters supported McCain and Huckabee by an almost equal amount over Romney.
We've won some of the biggest states in the country. We've won in the West, the South, Midwest and Northeast. Sen. John McCain
Despite Huckabee's victories today, McCain is confident that he has established himself as the frontrunner for the Republicans.
"Tonight, my friends, we've won a number of important victories in the closest thing we've ever had to a national primary," said McCain to supporters. "We've won some of the biggest states in the country. We've won in the West, the South, Midwest and Northeast."
"I want to congratulate Governor Huckabee and his supporters for their success today. It was not the first time he surprised the rest of us," McCain went on to say.
Gov. Huckabee told a member of the Associated Press that he will emerge from today as the only legitimate alternative to McCain, and went on to say that himself and the Arizona Senator would be the only candidates left standing after today.
As information becomes available, updates will be made.

I'm not sure that 3rd place sets him up as the only alternative to McCain.
