The Issues Committee of the Central Program Council has invited Pulitzer Prize winning journalist and author Seymour Hersh to come to the University of Tennessee to speak to students about his view on world issues of both today and yesterday.
Hersh will be discussing his latest book, "Chain of Command: The Road from 9/11 to Abu Ghraib." This book takes a journalistic approach and blunt look at the "War on Terror" and the Bush administration, and investigates the truths and lies behind the reasons for the war in Iraq. His book presents many facts to the American public about the controversial topic.
Hersh also writes for The New York Times, and his articles have been said to have periodically angered the Bush administration since Sept. 11.
Despite his seemingly recent magnified status, this is not Hersh's first chance in the limelight. Hersh first made his appearence in 1969, when he presented the truths of the My Lia massacre and attempted cover-ups to the public. It was for this, that he was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Journalism.
Seymour Hersh will be speaking on Wednesday, Feb. 6 in the University Center Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free.
