The Vol Channel (TVC) began a new season of the popular student-run program, "Hot Topix."  The show features segments that include entertainment, news and sports stories.  The student panel reacts to each topic, often pulling no punches.

"You get to hear students like you giving their opinion rather than people on television who are overpaid and way too old to be talking about it," Margaret Menafee, TVC president said.

UT student Nathan Jones, TVC's production director enjoys working on Hot Topix as he plays a major role in the production of the show, "I do a little bit of everything," Jones said, "I just make sure that everybody knows their role, and I make sure everything is good before we get the show out and put together."

Hot Topix is unique because students run everything on the show, "[They] run the cameras, switch the shows, turn up the audio, play the tape, they do everything," Jones added.

Hot Topix airs Tuesday nights at 7:00 on TVC.  For more information about the show, visit TVC's website.  If you are a student and interested in joining the Hot Topix crew, e-mail tvc@utk.edu.
