I was grocery shopping at Wal-Mart when I remembered I was running low on deodorant. After I finished checking all the food items off my list, I went straight to the store's health and beauty section.
I've never been an athlete or much of a sweater, so I usually wind up getting the cheapest stick available. I honestly don't know the difference between deodorants with or without anti-perspirant.
SPEND: Most people become immune to scents they wear on a regular basis, but the "Vanilla Chai" is just as strong as it was the first day I wore it. How's that for a scent release? But this time I didn't rely on price tags to make my selection. Instead, I chose a stick based on its packaging and print advertisements. In a sea of deodorant brands, I was immediately drawn to Secret Platinum's glittery gold decal, and I remembered the packaging from an ad in the December 2008-January 2009 issue of Seventeen magazine.
It was a very bold ad. An exotic woman wearing a green-feathered dress with gold coconut bra cups held half a coconut. She was surrounded by parrots, wild flowers and a monkey playing a miniature guitar. It promoted Secret Platinum's Scent Expressions deodorant in "Kuku Coco Butter." The copy read, "When you're strong, you sparkle."
I noticed the stick had a label on the cap that read, "Scent Release When You Need It Most." Some people evaluate deodorants by their strength. I evaluate them by their scent. Wal-Mart didn't have the "Kuku Coco Butter" scent, so I gave "Vanilla Chai" a try.
I've been using Secret Platinum's Scent Expressions deodorant in "Vanilla Chai" for three weeks now, and it is by far the best smelling deodorant I've ever used. Sometimes, it overpowers my cologne. I've even been complimented on my vanilla fragrance. If only they knew they were smelling my deodorant, not my perfume.
