To give or not to give; that is the question

I wonder what is the percentage of UT graduates actually give back. I know and am particularly grateful for those who contribute to the scholarship fund. So thank you to those who provide for my education and books. Though I truly appreciate those who give back to the university, the question remains, "Will I give back to UT?"

The answer to that question is rather complicated. I can say that I hope that I am in the position to be able to donate to my alma mater. However, I am but a journalism major and funds might be tight. So will I choose food, shelter, and the occasional pair of stilettos over UT? I most definitely will. I really do think that people should give back to their alma maters. I just believe that it is important to take care of your community, school, and the people who helped you so much.

If the time ever does come where I have the funds to make a worthy donation I want my name on something: a wall, a building, a road. I'm not picky, but my name needs to be engraved in some sort of edifice or plastered on a sign somewhere. Afterall, I would need to know that my donation was appreciated.
