Dashboard Confessional is slated to play at Volapalooza 2008 along with opening act Todd Carey on Friday, April 25, at Fiji Island. The event is being presented by UT's Campus Entertainment Board.
As an added bonus, this year the CEB decided to let the student body choose which artist would headline the concert.
Students were given the opportunity to vote for their favorite band on a ballot compiled by the CEB. Some of the artists included Dashboard Confessional, Yellowcard, The Fray and O.A.R. Dashboard Confessional was announced the winner on March 7 at the Vol Night Long event.
The CEB is a member of UT's Central Program Council and is responsible for promoting concerts and other special events. Volapalooza is designed to be an end of the year event that relieves the stress of graduation and final exams.
"The goal of the Campus Entertainment Board is to promote contemporary entertainment on the UT campus by hosting a wide range of music, comedy and special events," the group said in a press release earlier this week.
The event starts at 6:30 p.m. with Todd Carey performing at 7 p.m. Dashboard Confessional takes the stage at 8 p.m. Admission is free to students, faculty and staff with proper identification; however no outside food or drinks are allowed.
