Club 106 Night Life Review

Students and locals enjoyed the beats of live Caribbean music along with a celebration for the UT track team this weekend at a local night spot.

Lil Wayne or Passa Passa were a couple of the artists heard by the crowd entering the hip/hop and rap themed night club called Club 106.  The live djs scratch the current top 40 songs on the charts, but don't be surprised when a few old school songs hit the speakers.

Formerly the Red Iguana, Club 106 is located on Central Street in the Old City.

This two floor night club offers party-goers the opportunity to enjoy different atmospheres of festivity.  If the temperature inside of the club begins to get sticky, which is not rare, then venture to the patio. There you may enjoy an air of relaxation and a place to be able to hear what that male or female you have been trying to speak to all night is saying.  Club 106 also offers plenty of booths for ladies to take a seat when those high heels begin taking toil on the feet.

With three bars located through out the club, there is no need to worry about waiting for service in order to get a drink.  If you can't make your way to the bar, then just wait for a shooter girl to stroll around with shots for sale. And if alcohol is not your way of getting loose, then head over to one of the various pool tables on both levels and enjoy a game with some new acquaintances.

Downstairs is where you discover the designated dance floor, which resembles and ranges in the size of a boxing ring. It gets very crammed on the floor, so the crowd takes the dancing anywhere and everywhere through out the building.

Take advantage of the weekday specials the club offers such as 10 cent Tuesdays for beer.  There is a dress code, but it is not strictly enforced unlike what the sign posted on the front door says. Sexy attire is fitting for the club's mood, but if casual wear is more your style, do not worry about standing out.

The saying to arrive 'fashionably late' is a good rule to follow when intending to party at this club.  The crowd does not pack in until after midnight, so only arrive early if there is a discount on the cover charge.
