With basketball season officially over, other sports at Tennessee can begin to take center stage. Here are results from the weekend in Volunteer athletics.

  • Vols Tennis: Tennessee (20-2, 9-2 SEC) became the first Southeastern Conference team since April 2005 to defeat the Georgia Bulldogs. Kaden Hensel clinched the 4-3 victory for UT with a win against the Bulldogs Travis Helgeson. UGA's win streak against SEC teams lasted 40 matches. The Vols finished the regular season with their most wins since 1993.
  • Vols Track & Field: After rain shortened the Sea Ray Relays on Friday, Rubin Williams took care of business Saturday by taking home his second Tony Wilson Award. Williams won the 200 and led the Vols 4x100 relay team to victory. Tennessee finished the event with three new NCAA regional qualifiers. The Vols visit Nashville this weekend for the Vanderbilt Invitational.
  • Lady Vols Tennis: The Lady Vols dropped their match to Georgia 5-2. Although they had victories in singles and doubles matches, it wasn’t enough to upset the No. 8 Bulldogs. The match was UT’s last of the regular season. They will face Mississippi St. in the SEC Tournament on Thursday.
  • Lady Vols Rowing: The rowing team finished second in both the Varsity and Second Varsity Eight races in a quad meet with Michigan, Bucknell and host Ohio State on Saturday. The ninth-ranked Tennessee Varsity Eight finished two-tenths of a second behind Michigan’s first-place unit. The Lady Vols travel to New Jersey next weekend to take on Princeton and Yale.
  • Lady Vols Track & Field: Celriece Law made history by becoming the first Lady Vol since LaVonna Martin in 1988 to win the 100m hurdles at the Sea Ray Relays. The women added victories in the 4x100m, 4x200m and distance medley events Saturday.
