In Knoxville local bands are a dime a dozen. Some move on to bigger and better things and some fade away.

Verona has been around for about three years and shows no sign of disappearing. In fact, they have an upcoming show Wednesday, April 16. Verona's music has grown and evolved over the years into a solid genre of power rock with origins in deep rooted friendship.

Through all their trials and tribulations the band is in agreement that their biggest challenge is in writing a good song. The focus of their music is the melody, and the feelings that melody promotes. The lyrics are based on a foundation of personal growth and lost love. The group throws out roughly 10 songs a month. For those 10, they might keep 3 for final production.

We're our own worst critics and perfectionism is our biggest challenge.  Spencer McCoy, guitarist from Verona.. On April 17th, a digital version of their album will be available for a one-day-only free download on their website; myspace.com/Verona.  The hard copy album is scheduled for early May. Lead singer Rob Bennet says they are opening for the band 10 Years.  The concert starts at 8 p.m. at The Valarium and tickets will be available at the door for those latecomers out there.

Tickets cost $16 in advance and $18 at the door. You can purchase tickets The Valarium or Tickets Unlimited.
