For the second straight year, we get to celebrate a national championship at the University of Tennessee. Pat Summitt and company made sure of that with an impressive win over Stanford on Tuesday night.

Candace Parker will receive the bulk of the credit for the back-to-back titles, and I can almost guarantee she will be the player remembered when the Lady Vols seventh and eighth banners are seen in the rafters at Thompson-Boling Arena.

Alexis Hornbuckle will probably be viewed as the second most important cog during the successes of the past two seasons.

There's no disputing they were the two most skilled players for the Lady Vols. That was reiterated when Parker was drafted first overall and Hornbuckle went with the fourth pick in Wednesday's WNBA draft.

I will remember Parker's supreme ability and scoring touch and Hornbuckle's strong defense and clutch play. Without Parker playing through an injured shoulder and Hornbuckle coming up with the biggest of lay-ups there's no doubt the Lady Vols would not have won it all.

However, it will be a pair of players who wound up going in the second round of the draft who I will remember most fondly when I think of the only two national titles won in any sport during my time at Tennessee thus far.

Both Nicky Anosike and Shannon Bobbitt were overshadowed by the immense star power of Parker and, to a lesser extent, Hornbuckle. However, without the center and point guard out of New York, the Lady Vols would be no better than national runners-up the past two years.

The duo saved its best moments for the brightest of stages. I will forever remember Anosike's inspired rebounding efforts and Bobbitt's flare for the big 3-point shot in the wins over Rutgers and Stanford that have turned Knoxville back into title town.

Of course, the pair can be remembered just as easily for things completely unrelated to basketball.

Anosike will be recalled not just as an athlete, but also as a dedicated student who was a triple major in the classroom at UT. Bobbitt will forever be remembered as the shortest player in Lady Vols history, but one of the biggest when it came to hitting an important long-range shot.

I'll admit, I won't be able to recall the exact stats down the road. I can't even do that now without looking it up (Bobbitt hit seven 3s and Anosike pulled down 24 rebounds in the decisive games), but I will always know they were just as important as the All-American Parker in bringing championships to Knoxville.

And that should never be forgotten by the Tennessee faithful.

I'll remember them all because each player gave us such memorable moments. It took the whole team to win that title!
