The Tennessee Lady Volunteers softball team outscored Liberty 15-3 while sweeping a doubleheader Tuesday afternoon in Knoxville.

The Lady Vols won the opening game 8-2. Tiffany Huff had three hits, including her third home run of the season, and four RBIs in the opener.

"We came out ready to play today," Huff said. "I had some good at bats. It was a good day of hitting all around."

Ashton Ward picked up the win on the mound in game one. The freshman allowed four hits and one run in seven innings of work. She also struck out six and allowed only one walk.

"I thought our pitching was very solid," Weekly said. "They got the job done when they needed to get it done."

The Lady Vols won the second game 7-1 behind home runs from Erinn Webb and Tonya Callahan. The game was scoreless until the bottom of the third when Webb got a rally started with a single. Lillian Hammond later singled to bring in Webb.

Hammond scored two batters later on a Chandra Morgan triple before Callahan added to the Tennessee scoring with a single to bring Morgan home and give Tennessee a three-run lead.

Webb got her second hit of the game in the fourth inning when she hit a two-out home run to put the Lady Vols up 4-0.

"We have been working real hard this year," Webb said. "I was able to put some at-bats together and get a few good hits."

Callahan picked up her second hit of the game when she hit her 12th home run of the season in the fifth inning. The two-run shot gave the senior four RBIs during the doubleheader.

"I've been seeing the ball real well," Callahan said. "I think that's a key. It doesn't matter where they pitch it if you are seeing it well, you're going to hit it."

Liberty (7-24-1) got on the scoreboard in the sixth inning on an Ashley Williams double that scored Amber Depasquale. Tennessee added its final run of the game in the bottom of the sixth when Natalee Weissinger scored on a sacrifice fly by Webb.

The Lady Vols will look to extend their seven-game win streak during a doubleheader against Western Carolina on Wednesday. Game one is scheduled to start at 4 p.m.
