The CONNECT campaign was officially declared the winner of the SGA elections Wednesday after all votes were counted.
Jeff Wilcox was elected president with 2,508 votes, Meghan Blackwell was elected vice president with 2,506 votes and Taylor Reynolds was elected director of studnet services with 2,477 votes according to the election results on the SGA Web site.
Also elected were students to represent each residence hall, inlcuding the new Volunteer Hall and Laurel Apartments, as well as Sutherland Village, Fort Sanders, Fraternity Park, Commuters and students from each of the colleges. A Graduate Student Senate president, Julie Lynch and vice president, Paul Justice, were also elected.
CONNECT has focused on four areas labeled the "4 C's" They are Communicate, Cordinate, Cultivate, Collaborate. Details of these four areas can be found at the CONNECT Web site.
FOCUS was second with SGA presidential nominee James Akins receiving 1,723 votes, Jennifer Wilson, candidate for vice-president receiving 1,853 votes and Tamera Malone, candidate for director of student services receiving 1752 votes.
Students for a Just University also ran and was third in the overall election.
What remains to be seen is whether or not CONNECT will actually step up and fulfill the promises they made throughout their time campaigning.
Sadly, many of the past senators failed to even meet the requirement of presenting one bill per semester; a trend that must change for anything to be accomplished on the UT campus.

Including our new SGA President. Bravo, UT. I wait with bated breath to see what great policies this new administration implements next year...
