The Asian American Association at UT will host their annual Asian Awareness Night Wednesday, April 2, at the International House (I-House).
The event promotes awareness of Asian American issues, serves as a representative voice of the Asian American community, and celebrates the diversity and commonalities of Asian Americans.
This year's theme is called Real Asian World (R.A.W.), which is based on reality TV shows. From skits like Wife Swap, Dating Show, and even a season premiere TV show of the "Asian Real World."
The premiere episode of Asian Real World, along with other skits, will try to portray how Asians are portrayed today in the media dealing stereotypes.
"You are guaranteed to have a great time," Christie Sithiphone, president of Asian American Association, said. "If you're lucky, you might shake hands with the first Asian President of America!"
Tickets are $3 for both admission and food. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the show starts at 6:30 p.m.
The event will have food from various Knoxville restaurants (such as Kaya Korean Restaurant, Dynasty Express, Yama Toro, and many more!), but it will be served on a first come, first serve basis!
"Come early because there is limited seating! This is the I-House's last culture night of the semester," Sithiphone said. "So don't miss out!"
