Wide receiver Lucas Taylor had a big game in Tennessee's 48-27 win over Arkansas State last weekend.
Taylor finished the game with seven catches and two touchdowns, both career highs. He also had 104 receiving yards, marking the third time in four games this season that he has broken the 100-yard mark.
The junior's first career touchdown came in the the opening quarter and gave his team an early 7-0 lead. He also found the end zone in the fourth quarter to provide the final touchdown of the night for the Vols.
"I think our receivers are more disciplined than they've ever been," said quarterback Erik Ainge.
"We have a lot of good players that are where they're supposed to be every time. I feel like my timing is as good, if not better with these guys (than with last year's receiving corps)."
Taylor has also impressed his fellow wide receivers with his play thus far.
"Lucas has been catching the ball well and we've been moving the chains well (as a unit)," said fellow junior wideout Josh Briscoe. "It's all about moving the chains and keeping the defense fresh and off the field."
After Saturday's performance Taylor leads the team with 24 receptions and 382 yards, and he trails only Chris Brown for the team lead in touchdown receptions.
Because of his strong play against Arkansas State Lucas Taylor is TNJN.com's Vol Athlete of the Week.
