Scripps Networks is preparing a major expansion of its worldwide headquarters.  The plan for the expansion is to create a new Knoxville main campus along Sherrill Boulevard.

The Knoxville Main Campus is a $30 million expansion project set to double office space, from 189,000 square feet to 340,000 square feet. Currently, Scripps Networks operates from two locations in Knoxville, and the network recently signed a lease for a third location.

"Scripps Networks strives to be a world-class employer and will now have a world-class facility from which to operate, including an expanded data center and state of the art technical infrastructure." John Lansing, president of Scripps Network

"The expansion will give us (employees) the ability to all work on one campus versus the three campuses we are soon to be spread across," Jerilyn Bliss, a company spokesperson said. "That is one benefit we are all looking forward to in 2010 when we are all at the main campus location."

Scripps Networks have partnered with local firm Barge Waggoner Sumner and Cannon Inc. and KZF Design from Cincinnati to design the new headquarters. The project is being designed with the environment in mind.

"Green is important to Scripps Networks and to our employees," Bliss said.  "We are implementing sustainable building practices, along with looking at things like creating a campus walking trail. We have a beautiful lake on campus and we want our employees to enjoy it."

The project will have an economic impact on the city through bringing nearly 900 employees to the Knoxville area.  The network currently employs more than 1,400 people with offices across the country, including locations in Nashville, New York, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Chicago, Detroit and San Francisco.

"Scripps Networks strive to be a world-class employer and will now have a world-class facility from which to operate, including an expanded data center and state of the art technical infrastructure," president of Scripps Networks, John Lansing said. "We are proud to be located in Knoxville."

Scripps Networks are part of The E.W. Scripps Company and is comprised of the television channels HGTV, Food Network, DIY Network, FINE LIVING TV NETWORK and the country music network Great American Country.  Scripps has launched HGTV and Food Network in high definition and is developing platforms for broadband and video on demand.
