The campus chapter of Habitat for Humanity will be hosting the event "Shanty Town" this Sept. 19, as a demonstration to raise awareness of the homeless epidemic. They plan to raise money by selling cardboard boxes where participants will spend the night.
The event will be take place in the Presidential courtyard, and boxes may be purchased by the hour or for the entire night for you or a friend. Habitat will also be distributing information on substandard housing at the event. Habitat hopes that "Shanty Town" will not only raise awareness but expose some the stereotypes associated with homelessness.
A slideshow from Habitat's summer mission trip in Ecuador will be shown as well.
