The University Center Computer Store will be hosting a computer fair on Tuesday, Sept. 18 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Carolyn Brown Lounge of the University Center to show students the latest computer gear available at academic prices.

Now in its seventeenth year, the fair will include a wide array of vendors offering students the opportunity to come and learn about their products in a no-pressure environment.  Vendors slated for this year's fair include the familiar Dell and Apple, along with Quark, a desktop publishing software maker; Skullcandy, a headphone manufacturer; and Douglas Stewart, a distributor of computer hardware and software.

Laura Lundell, manager of the UC Computer Store, holds the computer fair each year to introduce the vendors to the students and to receive feedback on the types of products the UC Computer Store should stock.  The fair also raises awareness of the computer store on campus.

"It's amazing the number of people who come in their senior year and say ‘You sell [Microsoft] Office," said Lundell.

As with last year's fair, the computer store will be giving away some computer equipment as prizes, though the exact equipment was undisclosed.  Along with the prizes, students can expect usual vendor handouts and giveaways.

The UC Computer Store is a branch location of the University Book & Supply Store.  The computer store is located on the second floor of the University Center near the Cumberland Avenue entrance.
