Sunday is a day of homework for a lot of students.  This sunday will be a day of fun and play for some students as the new Badminton club heads to T-recs to hit the courts.

Badminton didn't start out as an official sports club at UT.  Many students were getting together to play for the last five years, but the interest keeps sparking, and students have created an official club for students interested in the sport at the beginning of this semester.

"Lately, the demand for sport has been growing as international students along with other local students who make up a good number of UT family wish to play this sport which has a world wide recognition" said Farhaz Nooralli who started the club.

The students already involved had an interest meeting last week and said that there was a great turnout of around 35 people who wanted to play.

The club will allow participants to benefit from regular practice times and access to organized tournaments. Farhaz Nooralli - Club President

The badminton club will only be meeting once a week on Sundays to play but "hopefully soon it will change to two days a week" says Nooralli.

Students who are interested in playing badminton, can meet at Trecs on Sundays.  If students wish to be a member of the club they need to sign up and pay the ten dollar semesterly fee, which is used for buying birds.

The badminton club will be playing on Sunday from 12:30 p.m to 3:30 p.m on courts c and d in T-recs.  All students are welcome.

More information will be available soon for those interested.  The club is working on getting their website up and running and can be found on the T-recs club sports webpage when it is available.
