After three years of waiting, on Aug. 21 Rilo Kiley fans finally could buy their new album "Under the Blacklight."

"Under the Blacklight" is the follow-up album to "More Adventurous," which came out in August 2004, and Rilo Kiley vocalist, Jenny Lewis' solo album "Rabbit Fur Coat" featuring The Watson Twins.

"Under the Blacklight" has bluesy rock and techno pop influences rather than the folk-inspired albums of the band's past.  The album's first single, "The Moneymaker," is sure to either please or disappoint fans.

"The Moneymaker" is a song with little substance lyrically, but it does have a cool and catchy guitar solo in the beginning that will have you hooked instantly or completely turned off.

"Breakin' Up" is a positive and honest dance tune about ending a relationship; it is also probably the only treadmill-worthy tune on the whole CD.

There are a few songs that go back to Rilo Kiley's rooted indie and folk sound, such as "The Angels Hung Around" and "Smoke Detector," but overall, the band's experimentation with a different sound is a success.

With songs about partying and people-watching, this album has a much sunnier outlook than the band's previous project. "More Adventurous," was full of stories of heartache, suicide and the inevitability of death; "Under the Blacklight" focuses more on "giving a little love."

You can see Rilo Kiley at the Variety Playhouse in Atlanta, GA on Saturday, Sept. 29.
