Along with the all other usual festivities, such as the annual Homecoming Parade and Party, which takes place over the weekend, The University of Tennessee is also seeking to honor all Military Alumni through what is to be called "Celebrating our Heroes: Past and Present."
The University has sent correspondence to all UT alumni veterans in hopes of holding a special reception and dinner at Calhoun's on the River. The reception will be starting at 6:30 p.m. and the dinner at 7 p.m. Entertainment will be held by the Brad Walker Orchestra and a speech will be given by Lt. Gen R.A. Tiebout, a veteran of the U.S. Marines.
There will be a dinner fee of $30 per person.
"Celebrating our Heros: Past and Present" is the centerpiece of this year's events. It will be UT's second annual reunion that seeks to honor and rekindle old friendships and bonds between veterans. However, the ceremony is not only to reunite veterans, but it is also to give students at UT an idea of the sacrafices made by these men and women.
The Army ROTC students here at UT were proud and excited to speak on what they feel it means to be a soldier and a student. They also wanted to express what it means to honor the troops and the importance of it.
