Homecoming 2007 is scheduled for Oct. 28 to Nov. 3. "Smokey's Bayou Bash" is a weeklong celebration culminating in the UT football game versus Louisiana-Lafayette.
All Campus Events is sponsoring the homecoming competition. ACE has many events this week for different organizations on campus. Points are awarded to these organizations during the competitions, and ACE will announce the official homecoming winner at the football game Saturday.
Rebecca Reed, ACE homecoming Co-Chair said, "For each competition, the ACE committee selects qualified UT faculty and staff to judge the event. Each judge is given a score sheet where points are distributed mostly based on adherence to theme, display of school spirit, originality and creativity etc. Based on the judges' score, a first, second and third place winner is determined."
The kickoff to "Smokey's Bayou Bash" starts on Sunday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a cookout in the Humanities Plaza/Amphitheater. A UT trivia game and costume segment is scheduled for this time.

Rebecca Reed, homecoming co-chair for ACEOn Monday, Oct. 29, there will be a "3-on-3" basketball tournament in the Health and Physical Education building from 4 p.m.to 10 p.m. The games will last ten minutes a piece and will be officiated by a referee. All points awarded in the "3-on-3" tournament will be bonus points for the official tally.
Tuesday, Oct. 30 is the annual Soap Box Derby race along Volunteer Boulevard in a single-elimination style race.
"Smokey's Howl" and "Anything Goes" is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 31. "Smokey's Howl" is a cheerleading and spirit competition with preliminaries scheduled to be in Alumni Memorial Cox Auditorium. "Anything Goes" will follow with different games and relays to compete in.
Thursday, Nov. 1, ACE will conduct a walk-through to judge different painted designs on the windows of various businesses on Cumberland Avenue. Organizations are assigned different businesses to paint what they feel is the spirit of homecoming at UT.
The homecoming parade is scheduled for Friday Nov. 2 from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. The parade features floats from all of the organizations that have participated throughout the week. There is a large float competition as well as a small float competition. These floats will be judged by ACE as well.
Finals for "Smokey's Howl" will be on Friday in the Music Building Auditorium, following the parade and pep rally from 5:15 p.m to 6:15p.m.
There will be events during the weekend for Alumni of UT with "Celebrating Our Heroes: Past and Present." The dinner will honor distinguished military alumni from UT and will tie in with the Pride of the Southland Marching Band's theme of saluting the military men and women from UT during halftime of the game.
There will also be a "Party in the Park" for all Saturday. The event starts four hours prior to kickoff in Circle Park and will feature music, cheerleading, door prizes, face painting and more. Admission is free, although a reservation is required for catered food.
