A free student film festival will be held Sunday, Nov. 4 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the UC Auditorium. The event is sponsored by Student Film Committee and the Student Activities Office.
"The purpose of the film committee is to educate and entertain the University of Tennessee community by providing a wide variety of films and film-related information," said Film Committee Chair Rachael Ainsworth.
The deadline for submissions by students is Friday, Oct. 26 by 5 p.m. in Room 305 of the University Center. Applications are also available in UC 305. The student films should be in VHS, DVD or CD format. Any full-time UT student is eligible to participate, Ainsworth said.
The two categories for submission are "Original Short Film" and "Original Promotional Movie Trailer." The films in the short film category should be eight minutes or less, and the movie trailer films should be three minutes or less. Prizes will be awarded for the top three winners in each category.
The submissions for the film festival will be judged by Thomas Milligan, Vice Chancellor of Communications, as well as two cinema studies professors, Ainsworth said.
Questions about the event or in regards to submissions should be directed to the Office of Student Activities at 974-5455 or Lynanne Hodges at lhodges3@utk.edu.
