Three-time Grammy winner performs at UT

Three-time Grammy award winner Branford Marsalis will be performing at UT on Wednesday, Oct. 17 at the Alumni Memorial Building.

Marsalis is best known for his jazz music, although he plays classical and modern music also. His recent album, "Braggtown," received a Grammy nomination.

According to his website, Marsalis is "dedicated to changing the future of jazz in the classroom." In addition to performing at UT, he has played at Michigan State University, San Francisco State University, and Stanford University.

His web site said that he has also toured with Sting, worked with the Grateful Dead and acted in the movie "School Daze."

Tickets for his Wednesday night performance in the James Cox Auditorium at the Alumni Memorial Building are $5 for students, $20 for faculty/staff and $25 for the pubic. Tickets can be purchased at the UC Central Ticket Office or at Tickets Unlimited. The show will begin at 7:30 p.m.
