The 19th annual Victorian Holiday Home Tour will be held Dec. 1 and Dec. 2 in Historic Old North Knoxville. Dec. 1, a candlelight tour, will be held from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tour time on Dec. 2 will be 12:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Advance tickets will be sold until Friday Nov. 30 for $9 and can be purchased at Kroger stores.
The tour will span nine homes, one church and the Time Warp Tea Room, a commercial restaurant in the neighborhood.
You will definitely be able to see that there are more than just homes in this old neighborhood. Chester Kilgore, Old North Knoxville Board of Directors member"You will definitely be able to see that there are more than just homes in this old neighborhood," said Chester Kilgore, a member of the Board of Directors of Old North Knoxville and resident since 1980.
Tickets can also be purchased the day of the event for $12 in St. Mary's parking lot off Woodland Avenue. Tickets are $9 for seniors and children under 12 will be admitted free of charge.
Historic Old North Knoxville is a historic neighborhood that was a separate city for 10 years until it was annexed into Knoxville in 1897, Kilgore said. In keeping with the city's rich history, free trolleys will run through the tour route.
Proceeds from the event will benefit community efforts through Meals on Wheels, Knox Heritage and Fulton Alumni Association.
"This has always been a good way to promote, preserve and protect our neighborhood," Kilgore said. Some of the proceeds will also go towards making a "pocket park" off Oklahoma Avenue for the children of the area.
"We have a strong neighborhood and we aren't going to give up on it," Kilgore said.

Thanks for publicizing our tour. We live in Old North, and we delight in the extremely varied architecture of the district. And the residents epitomize "neighbors helping neighbors." Unlike those living in much older historic traditional homes, we live in a converted warehouse (former home of Star Vending) on East Anderson. Not for everyone, but it suits us perfectly.
