Chris Lofton and the Vols got back to old ways when they hosted the North Carolina A&T Aggies on Tuesday night. Lofton made eight 3-pointers as the Vols beat the Aggies 93 - 59.
The Vols as a team got back to their winning ways, following up the loss to Texas with a fairly good game. Nine Vols scored in the game, with four players in double figures.
Midway through the first half, Lofton made six 3-pointers in a span of four minutes to put the Vols up big over the Aggies. Lofton then made two more throughout the game, to lead all players with 24 points.
With the baskets from Lofton as a big boost, the Vols went on a 30 - 8 run in the middle of the first half, giving them a commanding 52 - 22 lead at halftime.
The Vols then backed up their first-half performance with solid defense and good ball control. On the night, Tennessee had 45 rebounds and 17 steals.
Tyler Smith led all players with 12 rebounds. Smith also added 17 points.
The Vols also did a good job feeding each other for points, as the team combined for 28 assists. The team also combined for five blocks on defense.
Ramar Smith and Josh Tabb had good nights off the bench for the Vols. Smith finished with 11 points and two rebounds, while Tabb added 10 points with 8 rebounds.
Up next for the Vols will be Louisiana - Lafayette. The Vols host the Rajin' Cajuns Friday night at 7:30 p.m. at Thompson-Boling Arena.
