The Lady Vols basketball squad rolled to 81-60 victory over Lousiana Tech Monday night at Thompson-Boling Arena. The game marked the final tune-up before the team's showdown with North Carolina this weekend.
It looked pretty familiar as the Lady Vols took control of the game early, with several big 3-pointers coming from Shannon Bobbitt, Angie Bjorklund, Alexis Hornbuckle, and Sydney Smallbone.
By the half, the Lady Vols had built a 29-point lead over the Lady Techsters.
The second half didn't hold any surprises, with the Lady Vols maintaining a healthy lead for the rest of the game.
All-American Candace Parker ended the night with 13 points, as did Shannon Bobbitt and Nicky Anosike. Angie Bjorklund finished with 12.
Tennessee was strong defensively as well, with 11 blocked shots and 12 steals. Tennessee was also able to score 28 points off 24 turnovers.
"They shot the ball very well and I give them a lot of credit. There's no doubt that they are a very good defensive team as well," said Lousiana Tech coach Chris Long. "[Our] team's going to be very good before this year is over and for years to come, but we ran into a buzzsaw tonight and I give Tennessee a lot of credit."
The Lady Vols will now begin preparing for the fourth-ranked Lady Tar Heels, who will come to Knoxville on Sunday.
