The men's basketball team fell to the Texas Longhorns 97-78 in the final game of the Legends Classic Saturday night.

The Vols could not overcome another poor shooting performance. Although UT hit 50 percent of their three-pointers, the Vols shot 39 percent from the field.

Chris Lofton led the Vols again with 18 points but it wasn't enough as Texas had four players score over 20 points.

JaJuan Smith added 13 points, while Tyler Smith had 11 points to join Lofton as double-figure scorers for the Vols.

"I just thought there were a lot of times where we lacked purpose, focus and didn't play with the passion you need to play at the way we like to play," UT head coach Bruce Pearl said.

Tennessee was looking for its first tournament win since the Rainbow Classic in 2000.

The loss is the Vols first on the season bringing their record to 5-1. They will resume play Tuesday against North Carolina A&T at 7:30 p.m. in Knoxville.
