Entering the first game of the NCAA tournament, Mick Imgram was third on the Lady Vols with 12 total points.
Two games into the tournament, however, her strong leg and ability to open up the field with long passes has proven to be a great asset for Tennessee.
In Friday night's matchup with the Furman Lady Paladins, Imgram's six shots helped to keep Briana da Mota, Furman's goalkeeper, busy all night.
More importantly, her goal in the first minute after a pass from Kylee Rossi swung momentum in favor of the Lady Vols, an advantage that helped push them through to the second round.
"I thought it was fantastic to start out that way," said head coach Angela Kelly. "I thought it was a dynamic goal. I talked to the team about the importance of scoring early and fighting for that first goal."
In Sunday's game against Clemson, Imgram's performance was again pivotal to the Lady Vols' success.
While her three shots on the night kept the goalkeeper busy, her biggest play of the game came in the second overtime period.
Imgram played a beautiful pass that found Kylee Rossi in the penalty box, with only one Clemson defender between her and the goal.
Rossi then controlled the ball and fired a strike to the left upper 90, past the diving Ashley Phillips.
"(Jaimel Johnson) decided to play tactically and play the ball out wide to Mick (Imgram). The defense was all pushed up, she found Mick and then the defense pushed up her way," Rossi said.
"She played an amazing ball over the top and number 21 (Molly Johnson of Clemson), who had played great all game, heading the ball out, misjudged it. I took a touch. I was really wanting to score, so I just put it in."
Because of her strong play throughout the regular season and the NCAA Tournament, Mick Imgram has been named TNJN's Lady Vol Player of the Week.
