When the Tennis Vols (12-4, 4-2 SEC) head to Nashville this weekend to face Vanderbilt, they will bring their No. 22 ranking in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association with them.

The team lead by head coach Sam Winterbotham jumped fourteen spots in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings after soundly defeating No. 16 Alabama and No. 44 Auburn last weekend.

"I think the win today showed the type of character this team truly has" Head Coach Sam Winterbotham after defeating Alabama.
Tennessee's conference record leaves the Vols tied with the University of Florida for second place in the SEC East.

The SEC leading Georgia Bulldogs carry the ITA's #1 ranking.

The Vols No. 22 ranking is an impressive climb from their pre-season No. 44 ranking.

Winterbotham's team seems to hit full stride right in time to improve their seeding for the SEC and NCAA tournaments.

Don't be surprised to see the UT men's Tennis team be a big player in the upcoming SEC tournament as well as the NCAA Championships.

The Vols four losses have been to a team ranked outside of the ITA's top 15 with three of those losses only being 4-3 with the deciding matches going into a third set tiebreaker.

With a tough match against the Vanderbilt Commodores this weekend and a season finale against No.1  Georgia on April 15th, the Vols should be battle tested come championship season.
