Students traveled to Uniontown, Pa. with TeamVOLS for an alternative spring break experience.  TeamVOLS is a volunteer organization on campus that seeks to provide opportunities for students to invest themselves in the world around them.

“It’s a rewarding experience.  You don’t realize how much people are in need,” said Jennifer Wilson, a junior in child and family studies.

Students participated in volunteer opportunities by helping the local animal shelter, assisting at the Uniontown Senior Center, and preparing and serving meals for The Salvation Army.

“You come on this trip with 23 complete strangers, and by the end of the week, you have have made best friends for life," Wilson said.

This May, TeamVOLS is hosting its first International Summer Break in which participants will go to Mexico and volunteer.  If you are interested, contact the TeamVOLS office at 865.974.8481.  You do not have to be a part of TeamVOLS to participate in trips.
