The Covenant Health Knoxville Marathon will take place this Sunday, April 1.  The marathon will take place in downtown Knoxville, beginning just outside the Knoxville Convention Center and finishing at Neyland Stadium.

The marathon will include a traditional marathon race, a half marathon, a four-person relay, a 5k run and a kid's run. The marathon, half marathon and relay begin at 7 a.m., the kid's run at 7:10 a.m. and the 5k at 7:25 a.m.

Other activities, such as live musical entertainment and a post-race party, are planned for the event. An awards ceremony will take place at the University Center on the University of Tennessee campus following the conclusion of each race.

A total of $10,000 will be awarded in the marathon, with the male and female winner of both the marathon and half marathon taking home $1,000. Unique awards also will be given in each individual race.

All participants in the marathon will receive a T-shirt and goody bag. Those wishing to race can still register at the Health and Fitness Expo this Saturday, March 31 between the hours of 9 a.m. and 8 p.m.
