Although LSU has struggled to live up to the pre-season hype, Glen Davis has continued to be among the country's premier big men.

Last years SEC Player of the Year, Davis leads the SEC in rebounding with more than 10 rebounds a game.

Davis is also third in the SEC in scoring with 17.8 points a game.

Many people have compared him to former LSU standout Shaquille O'Neal in both size and mindset.

"Glen Davis is to college basketball what Shaquille O'Neal is to the NBA. Glen Davis has that same personality, that charisma. Plus, he knows how to play the game. I love Glen Davis," Florida Coach Billy Donovan said.

Other people have agreed with Donovan's assessment. Davis was named to this season's First Team All-SEC.

Davis has been able to accomplish great things despite having a less than ideal situation at home.

While growing up in Baton Rouge, Davis' didn't know who his father was until he was in high school.

"We established that I am your son and you are my father," Davis said.

He credits his mother as a role model growing up despite her drug addiction that landed her in prison.

"Even with all she was going through, she would still tell us the right things to do. She would tell us, 'Your mom will always disappoint you, but God will never disappoint you.' It's tough to hear that sort of thing, but it's amazing that she would say that," Davis said. "Her wrongs made us strong."

When choosing a college to attend, Davis cited his family as one of the main reasons why he chose LSU.

"Family influenced me to further my education at LSU," Davis said.

LSU began the season ranked in the Top 5 in the country, and has gone downhill from there.

The season hit a low point when LSU lost 10 of 12 games, including 2 games in which Davis was sidelined with a strain in his right leg.

Davis returned in LSU's season ending victory over South Carolina, finishing with 11 points and 7 rebounds.

Earlier this season when, Tennessee hosted LSU, Davis could be seen joking around with students, even letting some of them get their picture taken with him.

In that game Davis was held to a season low 5 points on 2 of 10 shooting from the floor.

That was only the second time this season that Davis had been held to lower than 10 points in a game, the previous time coming in a 88-72 loss at Washington early in the season.

If Tennessee wants to make a run in the SEC tournament, they will need to defend Davis with the same tenacity as in the previous meeting, if not the Vols could be home just in time to make it to class on Friday morning.
