After going 14–0 through the Southeastern Conference's regular season, the Lady Vols will look to capture their third straight SEC Tournament Championship.

The Lady Vols (27–2, 14–0 SEC) start their quest for another SEC Tournament Championship on Friday at 1:00 p.m. against South Carolina (17–13, 6–8).

South Carolina advanced to the second round by edging out Auburn 65–63 Thursday to open this year's tournament.

In the only other meeting this year between South Carolina and Tennessee, Tennessee jumped out to a 16–0 lead in route to a 72–36 drubbing in Thompson-Boling Arena.

South Carolina did not play well in that game and it got out of hand.

This may lead fans and players alike to think that they are not very good. However, they have played teams very well, particularly at home.

They have close losses against Vanderbilt and LSU. Both of those teams have a legitimate chance to challenge the Lady Vols for the championship.

The SEC this year is very top-heavy. The top four seeds, Tennessee, Georgia, Vanderbilt and LSU, are all guaranteed a spot in the NCAA Tournament.

Ole Miss at 9–5 in the conference is likely the only other team with a chance at an at-large selection and Mississippi State may get a look at 7–7.

The Lady Vols will face teams that are fighting for their tournament lives. The bottom six teams in the SEC all likely need to win the tournament to get into the Big Dance.

With a likely number one seed locked up and the regular season SEC Championship, there is a chance for a let down.

Pat Summit expressed her concern during an interview with Bob Kesling. She also spoke about how tough the tournament is to play in.

"You just have to go in and prepare and bring your "A" game. It's not a tournament where you can have a let down or an off night and expect to win," said Summit.

Summit was asked about the motivation for her team to come out hungry when they already have the regular season SEC title in their pocket.

"The motivation should be that they want to play. They don't want to come home and practice with me," she said. She continued by saying they have the "opportunity to be in a competitive environment and play three games and obviously to have the exposure and play for a championship."

If the Lady Vols win the SEC Tournament, it will be the first time since 2000 that they have won both the regular season and tournament titles.
