The Knox County Beekeepers Association will hold an informative meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 6 at 7 p.m. in Room 156 of the Plant Biotechnology Building on the agricultural campus.
"This month's meeting will be partly about how all our hives affect our neighbor's hives, but it will also be about what we plan to do during our March Short Course," said Margaret Taylor, current president of the KCBA.
The meetings are primarily informative, informal and broad, and open discussion is encouraged.
The group includes a wide range of people, from local beekeepers to full-time, self-employed beekeepers. "Our purpose is to promote the development and interest of beekeeping in Tennessee," Taylor said. The group also examines scientific methods of beekeeping, aids in the prevention and control of bee diseases and cooperates with organizations interested in beekeeping.
"If you are interested in beekeeping, and live close enough to drive to the UT Ag Campus once a month to attend meetings, you are welcome to attend," said Taylor.
