Well guys, we made it. The first semester of this school year has come and gone.
It doesn't seem possible that we went through over three months of classes already. For me that means I'm over halfway through the college experience. I feel old.
For me that also means I'm back home in Clarksville for the next month. I'll just say after over two years in Knoxville, when you go back home to a smaller place it's a bit slow.
Don't get me wrong. I'm very much looking forward to being home for more than two days and getting to see family and old friends.
But at the same time, I feel very certain I will be ready for a return to school in three weeks.
Sorry for the rant, but it's not exactly the most exciting week in sports. With no college football and no important college basketball all that left was the NFL this weekend.
That turned out to be a terrible situation with my Titans blowing a two-touchdown lead, followed by three straight terrible games on national tv.
The Pats-Steelers game never materialized into anything. The Colts blew out the same Balitmore team that nearly beat New England last week and still managed to stay under the radar in doing so.
Then there was last night's showdown between the Saints and Falcons. Chris Redman is the Falcons' quarterback right now. Need I say more?
I'm going out on a limb and saying this has become the slowest sports week of the year.
Sure mid-February gets a little slow, but at least there are important college basketball games going on.
The summer gets slow with just baseball on, but at least it's nice weather and I can go out and do something other than sit in front of the television.
But this week, none of that. It's too cold to go outside. And there's nothing good on tv especially with this stupid writer's strike. And it makes the days while everyone I know is working very boring.
It was pointed out to me that last week's column did not include times, dates or networks on my bowl countdown. Here is the list again with all of that information. For details on why the games are in this order, check out last week's column.
