In a game that was largely dominated by the Lady Vols (6-0), Sunday night's matchup with the No. 4 UNC Tarheels (9-1) ended up coming down to the wire.

After Alexis Hornbuckle made a pair of free throws with 13.8 seconds left in the game, it appeared that the Orange would come away with a 81-78 win.

On the ensuing UNC possession, however, Rebecca Gray was fouled by Hornbuckle on a 3-point shot attempt.

Gray, who was perfect from the free throw line on the season, made the first shot but missed her second attempt.

She intentionally missed the third but failed to hit the rim, automatically giving posession back to the Vols.

"All I could think was not again, like it was at Connecticut my freshman year," said Hornbuckle, "I am so intense I have to contest every shot. I should have let it go, I would have been heart broken if that would have been the reason we lost."

Candace Parker inbounded the ball over the Tarheel defense to Hornbuckle who then drove through the lane and made a layup to provide the final score.

Parker had a routinely impressive night, finishing with 21 points and 16 rebounds. Shannon Bobbit also added 10 points and five assists for the Orange and White.

While Parker had a strong night on the boards, Tennessee was severely outplayed in the paint. UT finished with 39 rebounds to UNC's 57.

The Tarheels also scored a total of 62 points in the paint, the most against the Lady Vols this year.

"We didn't have an answer for their inside game," said Head Coach Pat Summit, "It wasn't so much that I didn't feel comfortable about bringing other players in, it was just if it ain't broke, don't fix it. I never thought about substituting to get players playing time."

The Lady Vols will return to action on Wednesday, Dec. 5th at 7 p.m. against Old Dominion in Knoxville. Coverage will be on SportSouth.
