Are you a male seeking to impress your special lady with a romantic rendezvous full of delicious food and great views without breaking your wallet? Or maybe you're ready for a girls` night out so you can wear a cute dress with snazzy shoes at a restaurant with handsome servers.
The Bridgeview Grill is the newest occupant in the boathouse on Neyland Drive and it's the perfect college dining experience. The Bridgeview Grill combines a panoramic view of the Knoxville skyline with the best Monday night burger deal in town.
As the elevator doors opened, a gorgeous view of the Tennessee River appeared. After gazing dreamily for a few moments, I looked to my right to find a clean, modern restaurant that for a brief moment made me pinch myself to remind me that I was still in Knoxville.
As my companion and I addressed the stylish hostess, we glanced at our scruffy attire and made mental notes to wear something nicer than jeans and a t-shirt on our next visit.
We opted to sit on the patio because the light breeze provided the perfect opportunity to watch the sunset on the river as we gave our beverage order to our knowledgeable tie-wearing server.
We ordered the cheapest appetizer on the menu (after all this is an article about great, cheap deals) the Spicy Spinach and Artichoke Dip for a modest $5.99. The soft, creamy Boursin cheese perfectly complimented the warm spinach and artichokes.
Although they served it with a colorful array of tortilla chips, I used the complimentary herb bread and crispy pita chips to scoop the dip. We stopped ourselves short of gluttony because our entrees arrived.
As our 6 ounce burger, for only $3.99, and seasoned batter-dipped fries arrived, I almost asked the waiter to bring a to-go box immediately because there was so much food. The overeater in me withheld and took the first bite of the monster sandwich.
The ground sirloin burger was grilled to perfection and dripping with seasoned juices that were neither too spicy nor salty. It was served with crisp red onions, a juicy tomato slice, bright green lettuce and Cheddar cheese.
I chose to indulge in the delicious burger and neglected the seasoned fries, but my companion adored their strong flavor and spice.
For those over 21, I would like to draw attention to the reasonably priced beers and wines. I chose to sample the Flying Dog Tire Bite Golden Ale served in a frosty glass that I found refreshing and crisp on a warm day. The restaurant is currently in the process of updating the menu's beverage section, and they will pair menu items with beer and wine suggestions.
The best aspect of Bridgeview Grill is that they allow students to pay their bills using UT VolCard accounts, All Star accounts and UT Diner's Club accounts. So stop waiting in long dining hall lines on Monday nights, and check out the Bridgeview Grill for their $3.99 burger and fries deal.
Copper Cellar burger night fans beware, because the Bridgeview Grill is ready to impress. There's a new burger night special on this side of town and it definitely has my seal of approval.
