The Tennessee Volunteers figure to be well represented in this weekend's NFL draft, with six players figuring to be sure picks and others who could join them in the later rounds.
- Wide receiver Robert Meachem will go in the first round Saturday, and has been mentioned as high as the 11th pick to San Francisco. Meachem will likely be taken a little later than that, and there are many possible destinations. He would make a lot of sense for the Giants, Cowboys, Chiefs, Chargers or Bears, but Tennessee fans would undoubtedly love to see him playing in Nashville for the Titans.
- Justin Harrell overcame a season-ending injury to re-establish himself as a first round pick in his individual workouts. He is considered the number three defensive tackle, and should hear his name called sometime between picks 21 and 32. Denver, Kansas City, Philadelphia, New Orleans and Indianapolis make the most sense.
- The third potential first round pick for the Vols is offensive lineman Arron Sears. Sears is a versatile player who can play either guard or tackle and could hear his name called late in round one or early in round two. New England and Baltimore are the most likely teams to pick Sears in the opening round, but anyone at the top of round two could use Sears and his versatility.
- Jonathan Wade figures to be the fourth member of last year's team to hear his name called. The track star turned cornerback should go somewhere in round two with some projections having him as high as the 34th overall pick to Detroit. If Wade is still on the board when Tennessee is picking in the middle of the second round he would make a lot of sense for the Titans as long as they don't take a corner in round one.
- Turk McBride is expected to go in the second to fourth round range. He is a bit of a tweener, in that he may be too big to play defensive end but too small to play defensive tackle in most conventional systems. He may fit better with a team that runs a 3-4 scheme such as Pittsburgh or Miami.
- The sixth and final Vol who should definitely be drafted is Cory Anderson. Though the fullback did not see much playing time as a senior, he impressed scouts in his workouts and has been projected to go as high as the fourth round to the Baltimore Ravens.
Other Vols in the Draft:
