Following a sweep of the team (Yankees) that swept last week's number one team (Indians), the boys from Boston have claimed the top spot.

Check out the other movement in this week's installement of the power rankings.

1

5

Red Sox

12-5

The Red Sox are the most complete team in baseball and can still get better.

2

6

Braves

12-6

Tim Hudson is pitching like the Braves expected him to when they traded for him two years ago.

3

2

Mets

11-6

They're going to have to be able to beat the Braves to win the division.

4

3

Dodgers

13-7

Getting Rafael Furcal back makes this lineup even more potent than it was.

5

9

Padres

11-8

Adrian Gonzalez is a great young hitter most people don't know about.

6

11

Brewers

11-7

They've emerged as the team to beat in a weak NL Central.

7

17

Yankees

8-9

This is still the team that swept the Indians, and that makes them a top 10 team.

8

1

Indians

8-7

Tampa is not a walk-over, so it was big for this team to get the series win over the Rays following the Yankee disaster.

9

16

White Sox

9-8

They went into Detroit and took two out of three and that's enough to move them into the top 10

10

4

Tigers

10-8

Leyland called the team out before Sunday's series finale with the White Sox and the team responded with a win. We'll see if they continue that kind of play.

11

12

Twins

11-7

I know they're ahead of Cleveland, Chicago and Detroit right now, but they just lost a series to the Royals.

12

21

Orioles

11-7

They've very quietly put together a strong start to the season. I don't see them staying with Boston and New York, but they could give Toronto a run for third.

13

15

A's

9-9

The pitching is going to be strong all year but the bats are going to have to start hitting to win the division over the Angels.

14

10

Angels

9-9

Bartolo Colon and Jered Weaver were both solid in their first starts coming off the disabled list.

15

26

Astros

9-8

The Astros played more like I expected them to this week and in turn made the biggest jump in the rankings.

16

23

Rangers

8-10

We know these guys can hit, but do they have the pitching to stay in the race with the Angels and A's? I don't think so.

17

8

D'backs

10-10

The lineup has started to show its youth as these guys came back to earth this week.

18

7

Blue Jays

8-10

The losses of B.J. Ryan and Troy Glaus have hurt this team badly.

19

28

Giants

9-8

They've won five straight on the strength of their pitching, but someone other than Barry Bonds has to hit if they're going to compete with the Dodgers and Padres.

20

19

Cardinals

8-10

Albert Pujols appears to be heating up a bit, but he's going to need some help if this team is going to beat out the Brewers and Astros.

21

22

Cubs

7-11

Looking at the numbers this team shouldn't be this bad, but that's why they're called the Chicago Cubs

22

20

Marlins

8-10

The Nationals are just what a team who was slumping needed to see over the weekend.

23

18

Rockies

8-11

If they can get through this week's against the Mets and Braves without falling apart they'll finally get some games against average teams.

24

24

Phillies

6-11

The team is above .500 since Charlie Manuel's blow-up. Maybe that's just what they needed.

25

14

Reds

9-10

You lose a series to the Phillies, you take a tumble. Josh Hamilton, with five homers in just 34 at bats, should be playing every day.

26

25

Devil Rays

7-11

Al Reyes has been a pleasant surprise as a closer. Too bad he can't be a starter and closer.

27

27

Pirates

7-10

Tom Gorzelanny is quietly putting together quite a rookie season with three wins and a 2.05 ERA.

28

30

Royals

6-12

A series win over the Twins shows the potential this team has, but it's still going to be a long year.

29

13

Mariners

5-9

They went 0-6 and Felix Hernandez got hurt this week. That leads to a huge fall down the rankings.

30

29

Nationals

6-13

I would be very surprised if these guys leave this spot the rest of the season. They're just plain awful

Don't get too excited, the guy had never even pitched in a triple-A game before.

Hey Sasquatch, that is the point. The Yanks are having to resort to a starting pitcher that started the year in single A, pitched two games in AA, and then randomly started in the bigs. That's pathetic. Good rankings. Personally, don't think the Yanks are a top ten team. These rankings also have a good number of NL teams at the top, and the AL was supposedly the much better league. Just something to think about.

I wasnt saying that I disagreed with the rankings, I was commenting on "Red Sox in 07"...it was just a typical, narrow-minded, boston fan comment, and I wanted to point out that it in no way deserved a "'nuff said". We will see what happens next weekend when you have to face real pitchers, you stupid beaner.

its now next week and were looking pritty decent, on top of the leauge actually, and your probably just jealous that Boston has the best baseball and football teams that often end up with parades and partys....but who can blame you?
